I submitted an application and resume on the Progressive Careers website, was instructed to complete a questionnaire, moved forward with a three hour online exam, and then waited a month for a phone interview. I prepared in advance for the interview and had answers prepared for any behavioral based questions. I was ready to go! I answered all behavioral based questions in their STAR format. Only one question caught me off guard, however. "Are you looking for employment elsewhere?". Is this a disqualifying question? I'd rather not put all my eggs in one basket and I'm glad I didn't! Now, I know I am not the best at phone interviews (this is probably what did me in) but I am a top-notch worker, with very positive references from all past employers and supervisors, a motivated self-starter with relevant military experience, and I graduated summa cum laude with a bachelors degree. I would have been an asset; Progressive definitely missed out! In my experience interviewing with Progressive, I would say that it's a waste of time. I spent hours preparing for the interview and taking their exam and questionnaire; it took a month and a half to ONLY get selected for a phone interview, not even to be met face-to-face. They didn't call me to say that I wasn't selected, I had to check their career website everyday, a very impersonal way to find out. In a way I'm glad that I wasn't selected because after reading the reviews made by past and current Claims Adjusters at Progressive, many say that they are worked to their breaking point. I personally would not want to work 12+ hour days (not what is advertised in the job posts), that's insane. The turnover rate must be pretty high for this position.
