I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Progressive Insurance
Interview
5.1.2019 - Put in application. I had applied three other times prior so I did not have to complete the online assessment again.
5.6.2019 - Received email asking to schedule my phone interview. There were two dates to pick from: 5.10 and 5.13. I picked 5.10.
5.10.2019 - Received phone call at EXACT time I picked for interview. The interviewer was very nice and answered a few of my questions as she was explaining some of the role. I made sure I researched Progressive beforehand (I had notes prepared) and played up on that in the interview.
The interviewer asked questions about what I liked/disliked about my past jobs and reviewed some of my resume history. She asked about 3-5 STAR formatted questions. I did well on all but one - it tripped me up a little bit but I think I did well enough to move forward in the process.
After the interview (which was about 30 minutes in length), she said the next step was to get back to all of the applicants within a few days (I don't know if this is something new as a lot of the reviews I read about the interview process said they were immediately offered the f2f interview) and provide the next step if selected. Either way it goes, I will reply back once I receive the next email.
5.14.2019 - Received email from the recruiter stating that I wasn’t selected for the face to face interview. Minus one question, I felt like I had a lot of potential to be a good employee for them. For future applicants, I am assuming they want very cut and dried answers for all of the questions. Make sure you answer in the STAR format. If you add any personality or any “unnecessary” details, it seems like they will not move you on. Oh well, it was their loss.
****As a side note: The recruiter that Progressive named in the email to schedule the phone interview, wasn’t the person to interview me. That wasn’t very professional. As to the “decision making” step, if you’re willing to answer the STAR questions with no personality or realism, you probably will move on to the face to face interview. Since this was my 4th time trying for this position, I will say that my experience was a waste of time and their hiring process is very blah. Reading some of the reviews of the position, it honestly wouldn’t be a good fit for me as the turnover, work load and work/life balance seem to be issues. ****

Question 1
“Tell me how you prioritize your day?”. This question kind of tripped me up because it was hard to use the STAR format with the way the question was worded.
