I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Progressive Insurance (Portland, OR) in Oct 2019
Interview
1) application and assessment:
Applied online on September 16th, a day latter I received email asking me to take an assessment to see if the position was right for me and if I was right for the position. The assessment was pretty straight forward and I knew I did well after I had completed it.
2) Video interview:
Two days after taking the assessment I got an email saying they would like to go forward with the next step in the interview process which was a video interview. In the video interview I was asked to use the STAR format to answer 8 pre-recorded questions. I was given 30 seconds after listening to the questions to prepare and 3 minutes to answer, however I was finished answering most questions after about 2 minutes.
3) Onsite interview scheduled:
About a week and a half after doing the video interview I received an email and a call from the recruiter saying they would like to have me come in for an onsite interview to interview with a claims manager and to also begin my background check. The first half of the on-site interview was about my background and work experience - places I've worked, what I liked about them, what I didn't like, and why I left. The second half of the interview was spent on targeted questioning again using the STAR format. I was asked 5 "tell me about a time" questions. being told a head of time that there were 5 questions helped calm me a little bit because after each question I knew exactly how many were left and I felt comfortable answering them.
over all the process was very smooth, the recruiter was very nice and helpful.
