I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Proofpoint in Nov 2024
Interview
I applied online and was contacted by a recruiter. First and second rounds went well. Third and final technical round was not at all what I expected - the role description emphasized cloud & automation knowledge, but the technical questions were L1 related. I was not asked about my Azure, Security, or Terraform experience, instead I initiated showing a Terraform project that I'd implemented in a previous SRE role that automated DKIM & auto checked compliance of DMARC, but this didn't seem to impress them.
The interview process went well, it just really seems like what they need and what they want are not aligned or well defined.
Even though I wasn't chosen for the role, I do appreciate that the company did not 'ghost' me, instead the recruiter I met with from the start reached out directly. That says a lot about the company IMO.

Question 1
Questions were L1 level which was odd, especially since I was told that the ideal candidate needed cloud (Azure) & automation (Terraform) experience, which I definitely have.
