I applied through an employee referral. The process took 3 months. I interviewed at Proofpoint in Jun 2017
Interview
The process was a little lengthy, but very organized, and it took exactly 2 months from initial contact to offer letter. The people I met with were very friendly and gave good feedback during and after the interview.
There were 6 interviews:
Initial screening from a Proofpoint recruiter
Basic "get to know you" interview with the hiring manager
Technical interview with another Sales engineer
2 interviews with 2 account managers
Prepare a presentation about their product portfolio to a panel of Sales Engineers and managers, like they were a customer (25 minutes). If you get to this point, is because you are strong contender to the role.
Final Steps:
Recruiter called me to inform the hiring manager wanted to make an offer;
Recruiter ask me for 3 references;
Written offer is then sent and answer must be submitted in ~3 days;
Background check through third party company (Can take from 3-4 weeks)
Wasted my time going to the interviews. Below is the summary of my experience.
1. They don't know what they want. The recruiter said my experience is adjacent and pushed me to the interview process.
2. The hiring manager didn't show up at the assigned schedule due to the recruiter's mistake.
3. In the subsequent meeting, the hiring manager told me that I didn't have an email security skillset. Well then, why did we need to meet?
Avoid this company at all costs!
I applied through an employee referral. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Proofpoint (Sydney) in Jan 2024
Interview
Quick and Easy. Talent Acquisition Coordinator was great in organising the interviews. No delays, as such, timing was bad. Hiring Manager was very nice, as was the Sales Director and Country Manager.
I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Proofpoint (New York, NY) in Aug 2017
Interview
What a mess. Someone called me from the sales engineering team after I applied online. I couldn't talk. They asked me to call back at a particular time, didn't answer, and then didn't reply to future attempts to reschedule. The internal recruiter was terrible at replying to emails that she herself had requested. In many cases days went by. Some other guy got involved and I finally talked to someone, who seemed very interested in moving forward. Then the recruiter got back involved saying that someone would call me on two separate occassions, which they never did. It doesn't seem like anyone here has any idea what anyone else is doing. Not a great first impression. After a week or two, I got an email that despite my qualifications they'd gone with a different candidate. The position is still live on Linkedin, and has been for 11 months.
