I applied through an employee referral. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Proofpoint in Mar 2018
Interview
30 minute phone screen with the manager of the role, followed by an on-site interview conducted by a series of three interviewers. Had an extremely positive experience throughout. The manager demonstrated a willingness to mentor and offer resources or help, even if I weren't to get an offer. All interviewers were engaging and were easy to work with. They provided feedback on the spot on the validity of my answers as well as gave me tips for improvement.
Basic Interview Process (Apply - Phone - On Site)
Required to think a lot about system as a whole
Phone interviews were relatively about concepts
On Site - had two interviews separately with an engineer and also a manager
I applied through college or university. The process took 5 weeks. I interviewed at Proofpoint (Austin, TX) in Jan 2019
Interview
Best interviewing experience I had. Chatted with a Software Engineer at career fair for 30 minutes then was setup with a recruiter intro then a 30 minute hiring manager intro/screening.
After that, went onsite (pre-Covid) and had three 30 minute sessions:
1. Easy/Medium leet code question with two senior devs who seemed nice.
2. Met again with the engineer from career fair as well as the tech lead of the group. They picked an interesting school project off my resume and I got to work through the whole thing with them on a whiteboard. Really enjoyed this part because I got to interact with my future team. Left me confident that I would be happy there.
3. Further behavioral / personal conversation with the hiring manager.
