I applied through an employee referral. The process took 3 months. I interviewed at Proofpoint (Pittsburgh, PA) in Oct 2018
Interview
TLDR: after interviewing with 12(!) people on 3 seperate days they ghosted me, not rejected, just stopped answering emails.
I was contacted by wombat about a remote developer position. I had a phone screen with a team leader, and was immediately invited to a full interview. The interview consisted of 6 rounds of panels from various teams, including some that had almost no relation to the position I applied for. In all I spent more than 7 hours interviewing with various people around the company over 3 days. I was told I would hear back with a decision within 10 days. For a month I followed up every week, and was told that no decision had been made. After that, my HR contact just disappeared from the face of the earth, no read receipts from e-mails, nothing. I never said anything rude, and even had other's review my emails to make sure that I wasn't being aggressive or pushy.
I get it if they don't want to hire me, but using that much of my time, and then not having the courtesy to copy and paste a form rejection email speaks volumes about how they value people at Wombat/Proofpoint
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
They didn't do any 'whiteboard' style questions, they all centered around prior experience and things I had built in the past.
Took nearly 2 months, 1 call with recruiter, 1 call with hiring manager (slightly technical), 1 call with staff engineer and 2 seniors, 1 more in person interview with 2 senior AI engineers.
I applied online. I interviewed at Proofpoint (Fort Collins, CO) in Apr 2026
Interview
Did a two hour coding project which was cool, for the initial job screening. It involved creating a app in C# and seemed to go pretty well. However the ghosted me after doing it, followed up on three separate occasions no response.
I applied online. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at Proofpoint (Toronto, ON) in Jun 2025
Interview
I had an interview with a recruiter. It was a typical HR interview and it lasted about 30 minutes. Unfortunately, I was ghosted even after I sent a follow-up email.
