Applied online, but had an internal employee referral. Several emails for each interview. All interviews conducted remotely via video (initial phone screen with ProofPoint recruiter was via phone). I interviewed with 4-5 different people at escalating levels of management, all feedback was positive. The recruiter reached out to say that they would be checking references, then went radio silent. A week later they reached out to see if I was still interested in the role. I said I was. Same thing happened again. I received an offer from another company and emailed the ProofPoint recruiter to ask if they could do anything to expedite a formal offer before the other offer expired, and she replied saying that they went with another candidate. The interview process at ProofPoint wasn't *bad*, but I get the impression that their internal communication isn't the best. I'm also a little frustrated that they strung me along at the end, asking twice if I was still interested in the job before telling me that they went with another candidate.
