      Sales Interview

      Oct 20, 2013
      Anonymous employee
      Boston, MA
      Accepted offer
      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 1+ week. I interviewed at Propertybase (Boston, MA)

      Interview

The lies I was told in the interview process mirrored the lies I was required to tell prospective clients. Unethical all the way.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

No specific questions stand out, but the process was designed more to let the owner of the company brag about himself (which is really a stretch once you get to know him) than to determine a good fit, and after the fact I realized exactly how much of it was false when I learned about competitors and the history of the company.

      Application

      Interview

The interview process with Boston Logic started with a phone screen with the HR representative for the company. She was polite while inquisitive, and was able to share with me both pertinent aspects of the role for which I was applying as well as qualifications needed for the role. We also discussed things like organization culture. The next step consisted of an onsite interview with the head of the sales department. I was actually taken out to lunch (as the interview was scheduled for noon). At lunch I was asked direct questions about both my history and approach to different sales situations. We did some role play as well again covering different sales scenarios. We also discussed what we like to do outside of work. The final step in the process was an onsite meeting with the CEO and founder. During the meeting I was asked to discuss specific experiences I had with past employers and sales prospects. I was asked about specific approaches to to stages of the sales process and asked to discuss past metrics associated to my achievements vs. quota. We finished the conversation with some Q&A. Overall I would say that the interview process was reasonably standard but was conducted in a serious and professional manner. That is to say I think that I was vetted appropriately for the role to which I was applying and time was made available to me to get questions answers about both the role and organization from different perspectives.

      Interview

Employees of this company just seem so sad and tired, as if the office is the last place they want to be. The owner of the company is brash and arrogant and uses the interview process as a means of making prospective employees feel belittled before they even accept an offer. Just pure rubbish.

Was asked my age; not legal.
