Public Storage Software Engineer interview questions

I applied through Indeed. I received an email indicating that I needed to send my resume to the recruiter which was odd. I finally get a greenlight for a phone screening. I had a wonderful chat with the recruiter who indicated that I might not have a great chance but I would be notified by Friday. Monday comes and I get an email stating that they had been trying to reach me and since their attempts were unsuccessful my application was closed. I am really not worried about not getting called in for an interview given the current climate, but I am annoyed by the hiring process of all companies. I believe there is a flaw in the system and this reliance on ATS systems.
