Interview experience was disappointing. The interviewer focused extensively on my early career history while showing limited interest in my current role. Despite this being positioned as a technical role, it deviated into general career discussions led by someone who appeared to lack technical expertise.
The interviewer's approach to discussing career goals was concerning. When asked about future aspirations, I shared specific skills I wanted to develop. However, rather than exploring these learning objectives, the interviewer criticized me for not already pursuing these skills in my current role, suggesting I was 'waiting for opportunities' rather than taking initiative. This feedback seemed unfair given that I was actively seeking growth opportunities through this very application.
The response about job scope raised significant red flags. They described the role as requiring complete self-sufficiency from start to finish, suggesting a lack of team support or collaboration. This description was not only demotivating but also indicated a potential lack of understanding about the role itself.
Had 1 round with the TA - eligibility and vibe check
2 rounds with the Hiring Manager - one was a casual fit check and the second was a technical round based on an excel, SQL and powerBI assignment
