Found post on Craigslist and was called in for an interview without a phone interview. I arrived and my interviewer was very short, direct, and to the point. The office was very colorful and aesthetically pleasing. Wooden floors, Glass walls between conference room and owner's office, built cubicles vs. cubicle furniture, windows across entire side of the office.
The product was very complex so I was glad that I printed out their website and read it thoroughly on the way to the interview. Most people can't explain what they do so make sure you can...you'll get cut right away otherwise.
I had a prepared self-sales-pitch, but the interviewer cut me off, threw curve-balls, and left me scrambling. I had a programming background and even though it was a sales position he brought a programmer in to test me on my knowledge. After making it through the initial tests, I was asked to write a 1 page essay on cell phones very quickly. Afterwards I was brought into the conference room and asked to read the essay out loud, half-way through he took the paper away and make me recount as much of it as I could from memory. I shook his hand and left.
I was called on my cell while walking out of the building and asked to come back and give a presentation the next day with 5 power point slides selling their product to a hospital. I came prepared having made notes and everything, putting very little on the power-point slides to show off my talking skills. At the end I was offered a position on the basis of a 3 month trial period. They are very intelligent here and will expect you to be Einstein, be prepared.
