It starts with a phone screen from an HR representative who is engaging and listens for the most part but cannot or simply isn't aware of the social cues she's giving off during the process. These behaviors come across as rude and unprofessional. The process continues to fall apart after that. The hiring manager does a 1:1 interview and reveals that the next step will be meeting the team. After all, your backfill was terminated because he/she supposedly destroyed employee morale. After this call, there is nothing in terms of contact. They don't even bother to send a form letter. The problem could be in one or all of the following places: culture, hiring decisions, and/or screening. They may not really know what they're asking for in terms of the right candidate. They may be overthinking the whole process too. Stay away until they figure it out.
