I applied via an employee who forwarded my resume directly to the hiring manager. Within a few days, I had a phone screen with HR. The screen was easy though it was clear that HR didn't understand the role that I was interviewing for - in fact, they asked me what the role even does.
Approximately 3 weeks later I received an invite to interview with two senior people at Q2. It was clear within 15-20 minutes that I lacked certain specific experience that they wanted - maybe not a deal killer, but I didn't feel confident coming out of the interview. HR did a personal follow up call a few days later to provide feedback which I appreciated. Overall a good experience, but HR seemed a bit inexperienced and probably should have bounced me at the screening stage.
