      Graduate Business Analyst Interview

      Oct 7, 2016
      Anonymous Interview Candidate
      Sydney
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied online. I interviewed at QBE (Sydney) in Sep 2016

      Interview

Got past the vid interview and went to the AC. The AC was for 5 different roles, about 25 people were invited. Seating was arranged where tables consisted of the individuals going for the same role. Roughly 5 per table. 1st activity was a briefing overview of the company presented by hr. 2nd was two questions about which values you resonated with most, and how you would demonstrate this value practically in the workplace. It was really rushed because they allocated 5 minutes to answer the each question AS A TABLE so each person only got 1minute to speak. If someone goes overtime you are stuffed. 3rd was a group activity/ Two unrelated case studies. They gave you 50mins prep but allocated 10mins for each stage e.g choosing which case, brainstorming ideas, choosing an idea, developing the idea, presentation strategy Midway through they tell 2 members from each table to move to a diff table due to restructuring. This really sucked for me because I was driving and developing my vision alongside my team and I was told to move (wow!) to a group that didn't even choose the same initial case as I did. Then after 50mins each group had 3 minutes to present- which is like less than 40 seconds if each member wants to contribute WTF? Cases were presented simultaneously as well with each group in a little corner of the room presenting to two QBe reps. Intermission and then 4th activity was an individual case where you had to do a swot analysis in 15 mins and present it in 2 minutes. Literally less than 30 seconds for each segment if you want to give an overview and a recommendation......... Overall I felt super rushed. Didn't even get a chance to speak for my group prezo, didn't get to finish my swot speech even though I felt like I was a strong candidate. Why they would choose to structure the AC in this way is beyond me. Terrible experience overall, worst AC I've been to.
