      Application

I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Qorvo (Apopka, FL) in Apr 2016

      Interview

Applied online on Qorvo website and received an email to set up a phone interview with the hiring manager. The phone interview was mostly technical. Questions included designing a circuit for specific s11 requiremnet, basics of SAW and BAW filters, IIP3 measurement process, basics of smith chart, VNA measurement and connections, brief explanation of one project on the resume. The manager also gave a good introduction to the company and the role. This round also included a basic yes/no answers for questions related to skills like software tools used, hardware equipment used etc. After two days the recruiter called and talked for 15 mins to get a basic behavioral understanding of the candidate and told that I was selected for the next round which within 5 days. The next phone interview was with a design engineering manager. It lasted for 1h 10min and included discussion of all the projects on the resume and the manager expected questions regarding the company and the role. After 3 days the recruiter called again and scheduled the on site interview at Apopka, Fl after ten days. The onsite interviews started off at 8 30 AM with an hour long presentation by the candidate, the panel consisted of 15 people( all engineers and managers that would interview later on in the day). Next was two 1:1 interviews followed by a 3:1 interview and a plant tour. This was followed by lunch with senior design engineer who also interviewed technically during lunch. That was followed by one 3:1, one 2:1 and two 1:1 interviews. The last round was by the director of design engineering. They gave the final offer after 3 business days. A few questions were: 1) Parallel and series RLC circuit behavior on smith chart. 2) SAW and BAW filter frequency ranges and the reason behind that. 3) Basics of NF, IIP3, Phase noise. 4) BVD model of resonators. 5) Different aspects of filters like order, IL, Return loss. 6) Q factor 7) Impedance matching ( was asked this in three rounds) 8) AWR, HFSS software related questions Apart from this you should be well versed in all the projects mentioned on your resume as almost all the interviewers will ask questions on the projects. Also, be prepared for common behavioral questions related to team work and problems faced. They check how you gel with the team and how easy it would be working with you.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

Why are SAW filters not used at higher frequencies?
