I initially applied to Quaero online, but did not get any traction from that and personally reached out to management using Linkedin. The contact was respectful and attentive, and gave me an HR contact to send my resume to. I did but never heard back, and a month or so later, I checked back in with the initial contact (senior executive). He then forwarded me resume to a new VP in charge of hiring for the position, and CC'd me on it. Several weeks--probably almost 3 months--then went by without hearing anything. I received an automatic e-mail rejection from my online application. Then, out of nowhere, the new VP reached out to me and asked for a phone conversation. By this point I was interviewing/had offers from a few different places, and she understood that urgency and things moved quickly. She explained she had sat on my resume until the specific need came up, and now felt I would be a great fit for the opportunity. She set up phone interviews with 4 people in various positions. I heard back the following day that the feedback had been positive, and I was scheduled for an on-site interview at their headquarters the next week. I met with the CEO and was taken to lunch by a director. I also had a phone interview with an HR professional. The in-person interviews were very casual, mostly about fit, culture, and personal interests/ambitions. The phone interviews had been tougher (as they usually are since it's harder to build rapport without being face-to-face). The interviewing style varied greatly with each person I talked to. Some talked more about their individual role (and did most of the talking), others talked a lot about the company, and then one asked me a lot of traditional interview questions--why Quaero, strengths, weaknesses etc. The HR professional asked me questions about salary etc, but also ran me through some behavioral scenarios and asked how I'd handle various situations--personal conflict etc. She also asked me to describe my ideal job and work environment. There were never any curveball questions by anyone. After my final interviews, I did not hear anything back for a few days, which was discouraging because I had felt they went well! I had another offer set to expire at the end of the next week, and reached out to the VP who was the hiring manger in this case, as well as the HR rep I had t had spoken to over the phone. I heard back a couple of days later and was offered the position. Overall a great interview experience--got to talk to many smart people in various roles with the company, had the chance to talk to the CEO directly, and felt very welcomed/wanted by the people I spoke with--not at all a snooty place. I really liked the straightforward process.
