A long, drawn out process with very few updates along the way. And a great deal of work involved in the process (story pitches and a beat outline). Ultimately, I left the experience with a very negative impression of Quartz because it didn't feel like the editors appreciated the applicants (despite checking with editors on multiple occasions for an update about the hiring, I ultimately received a form rejection letter). Furthermore, the interviewers asked numerous times about how to frame things for the Quartz audience, and it remains a mystery who that audience is.
