I applied through a recruiter. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Quo in Sep 2025
Interview
The interview process consisted of five thoughtful and well-organized stages: an introductory call with the recruiter, followed by a conversation with an engineering leader, a technical interview, a system design interview, and finally a values/culture-fit interview. What really stood out to me was how warm, friendly, and genuinely enthusiastic every person I met was. Everyone made me feel very welcome, was eager to answer my questions in depth, and clearly enjoyed their work. I appreciated getting to speak with a variety of team members across disciplines, which gave me a well-rounded view of both the technical culture and the collaborative dynamic. I was given helpful preparation tips for each stage, and communication from the recruiting team was prompt and clear at every step. The whole process felt respectful, transparent, and I have nothing bad to say about it!

I applied through an employee referral. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Quo in Sep 2025
Interview
I had a very positive interview experience with OpenPhone. The process was well-structured, professional, and gave me a great sense of the company culture. Each stage was communicated clearly, and I felt respected as a candidate throughout the process.
It started with a 30-minute introductory call with a friendly and knowledgeable recruitment lead who thoroughly explained the role, the team's goals, and the interview timeline. Following that was a 60-minute technical screen with an Engineering Manager, which was a collaborative Q&A format discussion covering my technical background, experience and notable technical problems that I had solved. The final stage was an approximately three hour loop, and I appreciated that the individual interviews were broken up over several days, which was a nice, flexible approach that prevented interview fatigue. The loop itself included a practical and challenging system design discussion that focused on collaborative problem-solving and trade-offs. It also contained a deeper technical interview. While the interview was also in a Q&A format, the questions required in depth knowledge of OpenPhone's tech stack. The loop concluded with a Values and Product interview that felt like a genuine conversation, blending behavioural with product focus related questions to see if I was a good fit for the team's values.
