Approached by a retained recruiter about position. Phone interview with VP of Sales, Skype with U.S. president and then with head of HR. With each covered typical interview ground exploring how my experience and expertise would be a good fit for the new role being created. They repeatedly reaffirmed how committed the CEO was to succeeding in new strategic markets. (Found this rather odd since no one could articulate any go-to-market strategy, just building a better mouse trap.) Head of HR reminded me that it was a close knit family with many employees being there over 10 if not 20 years. Ahead of my being brought in onsite for face-to-face meeting which was to include a 30 minute presentation and 1:1 with additional executives, I was asked to take Calipers skills assessment test and provide 4 references. They did not like the results of the test and informed me that they would be no longer pursuing my candidacy. Having taken such tests in the past, I'm guessing they considered me too much of a maverick/out of the box thinker to get along with the team. RAD can't have it both ways to want an innovative sales person who will also fit into a hierarchical legacy comms vendor organization.
