I applied online in June 2017 while I was in the process of moving to Canada from the United States. I received an initial phone interview and was asked my status in Canada. I told the HR rep that I was on a one year open work permit. I was told that I passed the phone interview and would hear back for the next stage. Fast forward, I received a call back beginning of Sept 2017 to come in for an in-person interview. I was offered the position and was scheduled to begin training the next week. Got a call from HR two days before starting that I was unable to start because of my one year work permit. Something about to be fully trained my work permit would have had to be for more than 18 months. I explained that United States citizens aren't allowed to get more than a year work permit at a time. The rep did not want to hear what I had to say. So I lost out on a job because of my immigration status which they already knew about and did not handle properly. I would suggest being more inclusive or more open about the policy before even making offers. Not only did RBC lose out on a great employee but my time was wasted as I turned down other offers because I thought I had a position lined up. Now I am forced to start the job search all over again.

The interview process was good and recruiting manager was so polite. The telephone interview was 15 to 20 mins in duration and most of the questions was on experience and education .

Contacted via email to complete online assessment 1hr. 1hr phone interview with recruiter where they go thru your CV and the usual questions. The interview is conducted in english and french to verify fluency in both languages. The last step was an in person interview with 2 recruiters.(included role play). I received a conditional offer at the end of in person interview. Pre-employment verifications took 2 days. Official offer the following day.
