First is a phone screen with HR. I talked about my background+experience+skills and HR told me more about the position. This was a pleasant, friendly chat.
Next was a technical interview with the team director and a senior developer over the phone. They were 20 minutes late for a 30 minute phone call and no apology was given. The call quality was terrible and there was a lot of background and beeping noises on their end so I had to ask them to repeat what they said several times.
The director seemed inexperienced in interviewing. He sounded unsure of his words, saying a lot of "uhh"s and there were some awkward silences. He does not have a technical background.
The developer randomly started asking questions without greeting me and introducing himself. I told him my main languages are C/C++ and Python yet he kept asking me Java specific questions - these were easy however. He asked another question about a database system I used at my previous place of employment. He did not understand my answer, repeating 'no, what I'm asking is...' three times before moving on. HR asked more appropriate technical questions than the developer did. The developer left the call before the director did without saying any words so I had no opportunity to ask tech specific questions.
