I applied through a recruiter. The process took 2 days. I interviewed at RBC in Feb 2023
Interview
One of the worst and most unprofessional interview I've ever experienced in the last 10+ years. The director is not clear on what his product does, and lacks the vision and mission. Over the top, he leaves only 10 minutes for the candidate to talk about entire technical competencies and experince. The worst part is having a fixed mindset about other companies, which is, by the way, one of the tech giants (whereas RBC is a just a bank having its own small tech team working on legacy systems). If their teams have stronger technical expertise, why just not to promote a senior dev, rather than belittling other’s experience and a tech giant?
I'd highly suggest staying away from such positions at RBC. Overall waste of time and effort interviewing here.
I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at RBC in Sep 2024
Interview
I applied online, The recruiter reached out and set up a meeting. The interview with recruiter went well but the rest of it was a disaster. Instead of recruiter organizing the next meeting with the director, she had delegated the task to him and he was never responsive. Eventually, after I followed up with the recruiter a few times, the meeting got scheduled. The director was 15 minutes late to the interview and the two others were missing from the interview. He said he'd organize the next technical meeting for Friday (two days from then), but I never heard back and after multiple followups with the recruiter, he finally scheduled the last interview with two of the technical people in his team (a week later than originally said). The two others did not enable their camera which is disrespectful and one of them kept asking me why I had switched job so much (what an old school way of thinking and specially for someone who is a contractor himself). Most of the questions were Java based where the position was for data platform and java was one of the many qualifications. Obviously, the job descriptions are drafted by non-technical people such as directors that have no idea what each skillset means and what they are looking for. As a result, they end up wasting people's time. One of the most disrespectful, worst recruitment experiences I've had. They never got back to me even with a rejection email (got ghosted)
