The Head of HR initially called me and she was great...very friendly and personable. We spoke for about 45 minutes and she talked a lot about the role and the organizational structure there, the company's clients, etc. After the phone interview she asked me if I'd like to come in for a face to face interview and I said yes. I was told I'd be meeting with three people total and would be there for two hours. I went into the office in Herndon and spent a couple minutes with the Head of HR. All went ok with her (although the couple minutes we spent talking was her "preparing me" for the two people I was about to meet - I should've known at that point where this was going) but then the next person came in (who I believe is the COO) and although I was "grilled" extremely hard, the interview ended up being ok. After that I proceeded to sit by myself in this interview room for about 45 minutes waiting for the VP to come in and meet with me and when he finally "showed" he made no apology for being so late. He was very rude and even stepped out twice to take a call! He did apologize about that but I've been in HR and Recruiting for almost 10 years now and unless there is some EXTREME emergency, you don't take calls during an interview. He was extremely difficult to interview with - he asked the same question over and over (just in a different way each time) and didn't seem to even be listening to the answers I gave. He made no eye contact at all and was so stiff and unfriendly that he made it to be the worst interview experience I've ever had. I ended up being there for over three hours and when I walked out I just hoped I'd never be back!
It's a shame the interview was this way because the company does seem to be thriving and they seem extremely customer focused which attracted me to the company. From the couple minutes I spent in the office lobby though I got the sense that the office/work culture is very similar to management - stiff and formal and not necessarily the funnest place to work.
