I applied online. The process took 3 days. I interviewed at RTS Labs in Oct 2016
Interview
The interview process was fairly thorough. I had a brief non-technical phone discussion with the recruiter then came in for a more technical discussion with a few members of the development team. And also came in and completed a case study and review with a few other members of the development team.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
There weren't specific interview questions that I recall being asked, but I was grilled fairly well on some in-depth technical topics including garbage collection, object oriented programming, and data structures during the first in-person interview.
In my second in-person interview, I was given a fairly ambitious case-study to gauge my overall knowledge of the software development process including requirements gathering, system architecture, database schemas and just about anything else that goes into creating a system.
Don't expect to have all the answers, but expect to provide good answers for the things that you do know and you'll succeed. Don't bother interviewing for a developer position here if you aren't well versed on OO terminology and concepts.
The only truly memorable interview question was: If you could be any Star Wars character, who would you be?
I applied through a recruiter. I interviewed at RTS Labs
Interview
The recruiter reached out to me about the role and asked for my current compensation and expectations, which I shared openly. When I asked about the compensation range for the position, they dodged and said that they “pay on average for the area.”
After the initial screening, I never heard back.
It made it hard to tell if there was even a realistic fit. Especially since they initiated outreach, a bit more transparency would’ve saved both sides some time...
The entire interview process consists of the following six steps: you apply for the position, then go through screening, a tech interview, a coding challenge, manager interview, and finally an HR interview.
