I applied through their career site for the position and the following day got a request for interview. The interview was primarily cultural fit focused and asked about my general interests and why I was looking at the market. After about 30 minutes they asked me to confirm my salary expectations that I had put in the online application because they thought that they were high relative to what their max salary was. I asked what their max salary and noted that it wouldn't be a meaningful raise for me. They asked me what my current salary was currently nevermind it is illegal to ask in my state and where their corporate HQ is located as well. After making it clear that we were probably not in the same ballpark they didn't want to continue to another round.
Needless to say I found that they'll make you go through an interview already knowing your salary expectations can't be met was a waste of my time. I'm not clear why they wouldn't have asked ahead of time instead of wasting everyone's time.
