This virtual "screening" was for a remote job, being conducted by a remote worker. I had a brief but reasonable wait for the worker to join me on screen This was awkward because as soon as the worker got on camera so she could view me, she immediately disabled her video, leaving me talking to her name in the middle of a blank screen. I had taken time to make sure my home office was neat for the process, while she had a virtual background, which I saw only for a few seconds before she appeared long enough to give her name and cut her video off. That seemed very unprofessional. I expected, like most, that it would be as good as an in person interview.. face-to-face. It wasn't.
With that being said, I still fully expected to pass to the next round for an actual interview, based on my experience, knowledge and abilities. Unfortunately, this "screener"must have made the decision that I'm not hirable. For anyone wanting to know, I was dressed for an interview, in my neat and orderly office, I have years of customer service experience, as well as a stable work history, with years at each job. I was agreeable to the fact that the job won't even begin for about a month and a half and have no commitments for the training period, leaving me looking at 2 months before a getting a paycheck. I'm completely baffled that I didn’t even make the cut for a real interview. Mind you, I wasn't told this, I was left waiting for a call that I didn't get, nor did I get an email letting me know she rejected me. More than that, I'm completely baffled that she holds that position, leaving me wondering how that came to be, if she was hired for it or got promoted to it. That's all I'm left with about the experience, the burning question of how did this unprofessional person wind up with a decision making job.
I'm selecting very difficult for interview difficulty, because this wasn't an actual interview, making it extremely difficult to get interviewed. It was basically her looking at my resume, asking if the dates of previous jobs are correct and why I left them.
