      Marketing Communications Specialist Interview

      Jan 25, 2017

      Application

I applied through a recruiter. I interviewed at RealPage (Dallas, TX) in Aug 2016

      Interview

I applied to the role on the company website as well as LinkedIn. I had a former colleague working in the marketing department and asked him to kindly send my resume to the hiring team. A few days later I get a message on LinkedIn from a corporate recruiter for the company asking to set up an interview with me the next day. Needless to say, I did not get a call, an email, or a LinkedIn message the whole day, having spent time preparing and waiting for the phone interview. I reached out to the recruiter a few more times over the following few days, and got no response. Coincidentally, there was a job fair going on in my town, in which RealPage was part-taking. Since it was the only opportunity for a face-to-face interaction, I showed up there and talked to the recruiting representatives about my intent to reach the hiring department, and more specifically the infamous recruiter. The gentleman I was speaking with was very understanding, he said he knew the guy very well, vouched for my credentials, and took my information along to be delivered. And then there was nothing. No calls, replies. Only three months later, I see that the recruiter I needed to get in touch with is now the owner of his personal organization, having quit RealPage a few months earlier. I found the whole experience very unprofessional and demeaning as a woman in the business world. I hope the company pays more attention to the way they treat their employee candidates in the future.
