      Lead Solutions Engineer Interview

      Jun 3, 2020
      Anonymous employee
      Accepted offer
      Positive experience
      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 2 months. I interviewed at Recharge Payments in Aug 2019

      Interview

I had a positive experience throughout the interview process with ReCharge. There were 5 interviews in total: recruiter screen, 1on1 with hiring manager, team interview, skills assessment with hiring manager, and a final onsite interview with the CEO and COO. The recruiter screening was fairly straight forward, just looking to get my background and make sure I fit the job description. This was a half hour phone call that took place about a week after I applied. The next step was with the hiring manager and focused primarily on what the role entails, what I would be doing, and the current setup of the team. The hiring manager asked alot of hypothetical type questions to see how I would react in certain situations and how I would handle things that had come across the team in past months. This was a google hangout call and lasted an hour. After that interview, they setup some time for me to meet with the current members of the team. This interview was fairly casual and I got the sense it was setup to see if I'd fit in well with the team members. This was another hangouts meeting that lasted 30 minutes. Next I met with the hiring manager again. This was an extended interview where we did some technical assessment exercises to make sure I had the tech background to handle the role. After I finished that, we started talking more tactical about the challenges the team is currently facing and how I could help out to improve things. This was another hangouts meeting and was 1.5 hours. The last step was for me to fly out to their corporate office in Santa Monica, CA to meet with the CEO, COO, and hiring manager. This was a day long interview and most of the interactions with the CEO and COO were focused on culture fit and making sure I had the same core values that the company has been built on. After I met with them, I spent the rest of the time with the hiring manager. We talked in-depth on the current challenges of the team and how I could positively impact those challenges. Overall, I thought each interview was worthwhile and served its purpose for what ReCharge was trying to accomplish at each stage of the interview process. These interviews were strung out a little over 2 months from the time I applied until the day I accepted an offer, which I can understand for the position I was interviewing for, but the interview process did seem to span longer than usual.
