I was contacted for an interview and attended interview a couple days later. I arrived in the building 5 minutes before the interview and was asked to complete an application. Application was completed 10 minutes after my interview time, but had to wait another 25 minutes to meet with the hiring manager (now 35 minutes after my interview time).
The hiring manager was extremely rude and asked inappropriate questions, such as, how I expect to make it in to work during the winter, living 45 minutes away. That shouldn't have been her concern or even discussed, as that is for me to figure out (I have not had any issues with making it to work and have commuted for years).
The interview turned to the discussion of compensation. I had previously inquired about compensation prior to agreeing to the interview, as I felt it would save everyone time if we did not have the same range in mind, and was told it would be discussed during the interview. During the interview, the hiring manager asked about my compensation requirements. I informed her of what I was currently making, and let her know I could go down slightly, but not more than a couple thousand annually. She literally laughed at me and informed me that this was healthcare and the max would be $60,000 for a Director position. I laughed back and informed her that her response was incredibly rude (could have simply stated the the position pay $xx.xx and I would have politely stated that unfortunately, I would need more than that and we could have parted ways), and "Good luck finding a Director level candidate at that pay".
Complete waste of time (could have been avoided), rude and inhospitable experience, and needless to say, I did not get an offer... I would have declined if I had. If this is how interviews are handled, I can't imagine it is an amazing place to work for.
