      Floor Staff Interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at Regal (Lynnwood, WA) in Apr 2018

      Interview

Applied online on a Sunday and then received a phone call on Monday to come in for an interview on Tuesday. I wore black slacks with a nice white shirt underneath a black blazer with flats, but didn't take out my nose piercing yet. Before the manager even pointed out my piercing, I made sure to let him know I am more than willing to take it out. I came a little bit earlier so the manager had me read a packet on dress code and job responsibility and then took me up to the office. He asked me maybe no more than 10 very basic questions. It was a very easy and casual interview. The manager seemed to be somewhere around my age and could relate to my past job struggles, so it was nice to be able to have a manager that's easy to relate to and be comfortable around. At the end, the manager told me he enjoyed my interview and gave me 3 reference sheets to give to my current/past employers. That was definitely the most annoying and ridiculous process of the hiring process, in my opinion. I understand it's a corporate policy, but I think corporate should rethink having those reference sheets be a requirement. I wasted almost half a tank of gas driving around town trying to get signatures from past employers to rate your job performance. It felt like a waste driving around so far because one of my employers has a policy that doesn't even allow them to rate an employee's job performance, only statistical information. So if managers are going to call people's references anyway, wouldn't it be good enough to just provide a name and phone number by the applicant which was already done on the online application? It seems like every single person here reviewing the interviews has an issue with these reference sheets, so I think it wouldn't be too bad of an idea for corporate to review how useful this is for the hiring process. Not everybody has good enough gas mileage to be able to afford to drive around town collecting signatures. I submitted the sheets on Thursday (interview having been on Tuesday) and then the following Monday, the manager invited me back in on Tuesday. I arrived and there were 2 other new hires there and the manager asked us if we want the job, we all agreed, and then he passed out a few sheets giving us orientation date and gave us our uniforms. Later, an e-mail was sent to complete at-home orientation before the actual orientation date which took no more than an hour to complete.
