Interview
I applied online on January 3rd. I went in to ask if they were hiring on January 8th, to show them that I am a normal, presentable person. They said they were hiring and I gave them a resume. They called me on January 16th to schedule an interview. The interview was on January 23rd. I dressed very professionally with a knee length black skirt, tights, a lavender blouse and a black blazer. The interview went really well. It was about an hour long from when I got there to when I left. At the end, the interviewer told me that she thought it went very well. She asked questions such as "why should we hire you?" "what are your strengths/weaknesses?" etc.
I then called one week after the interview and told them I was still very interested int he position and she told me to come in for a second interview. The second interview was another week after that on February 5th. The second one was a little different from the first. I gave her the reference check forms they requested and she asked a few more questions. Long and short term goals, why they should hire me and some situational questions. She said I would get a call within a week letting me know if I got the job.
6 days later on February 11th, I got a call saying I got the job and to come in for orientation tomorrow. I am very excited for my new job (first job) and I start tomorrow! My advice for someone who wants to work at the movie theater: no matter what other people tell you, dress professionally! Also don't over-think it and don't over-prepare. They ask straightforward questions and if you take a few seconds to think about the question, they won't mind. Really show them you are excited to work there.
Very easy interview process, they usually interview you right there in the lobby and ask for some references. Simple, common interview questions. If you are interviewing for an usher/box office/concessions position you should get it if your answers are solid.
I only had a single interview. Basic customer service type questions. Asked me how I would handle an upset employee or similar situations. Nothing crazy or out of the ordinary. At the end they asked me what my favorite movie is.
Basic questions, basic tone, basic everything, just plain basic and basic job. Basic all around- nothing stood out. Now I'm just writing stuff to meet the 30 word minimum. However, anyone who can't the job interview must be socially unaware of social norms.
