Very friendly male, very talkative. Wants to "build a program" as there was not a SLP in this facility. Noted the company had a very strong PT program in place and OT is building. Wanted to convey the company works in rural areas, and this would be a great opportunity for the right person. School background not an issue during interview process, limited medical experience noted, but SLP willing to learn. How would I treat people in the area, what could I bring to the company, how do I get along with others, how would I market the program? Were some of the questions, essentially during the interview process. Noted it would take time to build a program, and willing to allow that time to the therapist. Initial pay set by SLP at 60 per hour, talked down to 50 per hour. SLP found out later SLP's at company are at 55 per hour by a slip of the tongue. There is a contact clause for a year in the contract, which is difficult because the area is rural and it is difficult to get full time employment in the area. Noted the facility was exactly as it was, clean, well lit, good size, modern equipment for PT. Did not clarify the specifics of the job, such as home health, in patient, out patient, swing, but it was on website. Very friendly, easy to talk to, hard on the pay, but company made good- checks on time, pay scale very good for area. Did not state PRN position, if caseload not big enough, but again, the company was very good to me.
