I applied through a recruiter. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at Relativity (Chicago, IL) in Oct 2016
Interview
I don't typically write reviews but this interview really cut my nerve. I got an OA earlier last week. It was some data formatting and sorting on Hackerrank. It was pretty easy if you are dealing with data transformation day to day. I completed the challenges in an hour even I was given 3 hours to do it. Then I got a response back saying that I got 250/250, 248/250 on the challenges and the kCura was impressed. After that I got scheduled for a phone interview. The interviewer was so arrogant and not friendly at all. He asked me about what a RESTful API is and I told him what my understanding of it is. He just didn’t buy it and kept asking me the mechanism or knowledge behind the scene. My personal experience includes a lot of the RESTful API maintenance and after not giving him what the mechanism is behind scene, he jumped to the conclusion that “you did some work on RESTful API, but not a whole lot”. Excuse me? This is a such bad interview experience. Then he prompted me to ask his some questions. I asked him what is going on with his linked profile, and why the kCura is not on his profile. He said it’s irrelevant to this call. Since he asked me why I quit my job, I wanted to know why he quit his and joined kCura, but he interrupted me without going forward with my question. And his title is a team manager. Now I am wondering if all the managers in kCura like this?
I am pretty certain that they are not going to get back to me. But even if they did, I would turn down the interview request. I don't expect to work for a company that is full of arrogant people.
Review and practice medium-level data structures and algorithms (DSA), ensuring strong problem-solving skills. Revisit system design basics, clearly articulate design decisions, trade-offs, and reasoning behind each architectural choice made. Overall it was a basic DSA and Sustek design questions for any standard Softare Engineer job.
I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Relativity in Dec 2021
Interview
Technical questions were based on foundational OOP concepts and key software development fundamentals. "Insight" interview questions were tied to the company's core values - easy to look up ahead of time on the company's website.
I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Relativity in Jul 2021
Interview
First I had a 30 minute phone screen with recruiter. The next week, i had a 30 minute phone screen with an engineering manager. Both of these interactions were positive.
Then i had a 3 hour panel interview with 3 engineers (2 coding challenges) and a manager and this is where I had a horrible experience.
I was told that i could do the challenges in any language i wanted but the program they used was not set up properly. When i switched to a language i was more comfortable writing in, the boilerplate code was not copied over. So, i wrote hybrid code since i wasn't as comfortable writing in the language that they had set.
The first interviewer was 15 minutes late and i had to email the hiring director since no on was on the Zoom call with me. Despite the lateness of the first engineer, i was expected to finish the task in the original allotted time. The second engineer gave me an algorithm challenge. The third engineer asked mostly architectural questions. The manager asked more behavioral questions related to the company's values.
