The interview was for application support specialist role in their London office. First interview was with the recruiter. Second interview was taken by 2 interviewers on video chat. Third interview was 3 hours long via video chat and actually consist of 4 different interviews/ rounds ! including Core Values , Insight, Technical and HR. Before this final interview, there was a preparation call i got from them. So basically, if i include all these conversations as part of interview process then i atleast attended 7 interviews!! Crazy. Ofcourse i have taken the day off from work to attend the last 3 hour back to back interview session.
I went through the stages wondering why they have such a lengthy process? In the last three hour interview session, I have provided them the answers to the best of my knowledge. I did loads of homework on their company info to prepare myself. The interview went well (atleast this is what i have thought) but to my surprise, all the interviewers were more interested in listening to your 'stories' then the actual skill which matters. During the interview, i got the impression by atleast two interviewers that i will get this job and HR member promise me to email soon. Second day, i did got her email stating that if i can free myself tomorrow to arrange a follow up conversation ! Seriously ? I requested her to call me the same day and not tomorrow which she accepted. I then receive her call telling me that I didn't get the job. What ? So for this, she want me to have a telephonic conversation with her. I appreciate that feedback is important but she can easily do that by sending an email. She told me that the interviewers believe, you are very technical and excellent in customer service but in some of the questions, you tell your real life stories differently which were not fully related to the questions. So they are telling me that you are great in technical and customer service skills which are the key to do this role but you will not get this job as you are not a good story teller. Please note that they want to listen a story on nearly every single question for 3 hours !!. Also remember that kCura is fairly big in Chicago but tiny in London. Currently only one person in support and less then 10 people in total. If you want to be successful in interview then please polish your story telling skills. Here is a summary of the last interview:
1. Core Values = Go to their website, read the values and prepare a knockout real life story for each value
2. Insight = They will ask you questions about work experiences mentioned on your CV. Again they will ask you scenario based questions which require you to tell your stories.
3. Technical = Please don't worry. Nothing technical in this technical interview. Again the scenario based questions and two different people to listen to your stories.
Other Lesson learnt: Never apply for a job which doesn't mention the salary on offer. You don't know what their budget is? It may be possible that my salary expectation have affected the decision. As a senior 3rd/ 4th line application specialist with almost 6 yrs of experience in senior role, I can not ask anything less then 50k. I am already earning around 45k scale. I only realize it later that the position on offer is actually a first line support as they only prefer to hire people as first line.
Positives: They keep their promises and maintain constant communication in professional manner. They offer you good learning opportunities if you get the job.
