      Senior Full Stack Developer Interview

      Aug 12, 2018
      Anonymous Interview Candidate
      Irvine, CA
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied through other source. The process took 3 days. I interviewed at Restaurant365 (Irvine, CA)

      Interview

Panel interview with team leads, directors, Then in person with Directors. The interview process was very disorganized and they are having big issues with their outsourced team in Palestine. After the first level phone interview, they sent me a technical, asked me to complete it within 48 hours prior to in person. 24 hours later, they emailed me and asked me to completely 'discard' the technical because they wanted me to complete a completely different technical before the interview. They never sent it. I went in for the interview and the interview went well for the most part I felt. I met with two different senior level directors, and they seemed pretty confident and interested. At one point one of them said "All I want to know is when can you start and how much do you want". The catch was, they wanted someone who could help them fix the issues with their outsourced team in Palestine, and described the role as someone who could "close out" the outstanding issues that were introduced by this outsourced team, which, for anyone experienced with working with outsourced teams knows, is next to impossible. They said the outsourced team is doing the work about 95% to specification, but they want someone who can "code the remaining 5%" . Reality is, this wont happen, for many reasons. After the in person interview, they said they were still figuring out what technical they wanted me to complete before they gave me an offer. Within an hour after the in person interview, they literally sent me a screenshot of a textbook problem written in a book authored in 2008, 10 years ago. Literally, they took a screenshot of the PDF textbook problem... Unbelievable. They told me I had 6 working hours to complete. I was a pretty disappointed that they didnt even take the time to create a unique problem/technical. And it just reinforced to me that their process and company was even more disorganized. I literally just copied the solution from the book, making the answer indisputable. A text book question deserves a textbook response. Did they really think I wasn't going to notice that the problem came from a textbook? They emailed next day with template rejection email, no explanation. So there wasn't a clear reason why they changed from "All I want to know is when can you start and how much do you want" to a template rejection email.
