      Application

I applied online. The process took 2 months. I interviewed at Restaurant365 (Irvine, CA) in Feb 2019

      Interview

Had a 1-hour phone screening with the recruiter. Very pleasant conversation. He hadn't been with the company for very long but he was well-prepared to describe the company's benefits and successful trajectory. The second phase was an in-person interview with the head of marketing. He had also not been with the company for very long. This interview ran a little over an hour and covered all aspects of the company's current marketing and the areas he'd like to improve. He asked me in-depth questions to test my knowledge of marketing. At one point I asked about the company's level of commitment to helping its employees further their careers. In the course of answering this question, he told me (a woman), "We don't have any women in leadership positions here." He then went on to explain that they do, however, have employees who are minorities (as though you can swap out a minority for a woman and pat yourself on the back for "diversity"??? very confusing). He wasn't condescending, nor apologetic. Just matter-of-fact, like a bartender describing what beers they had on tap. After the interview I emailed him a follow-up question and he never replied. Three and a half weeks later, I got an email from the recruiter telling me I hadn't gotten the position.

      Interview

The interview was conducted via Zoom and was well-organized and structured. The interviewer was kind and enthusiastic, and there was swift follow-up (although there wasn't any personal feedback). I could tell that the HR department is run like a well-oiled machine.

      Interview

The actual interview process was not terrible. I had three video interviews: one with the talent acquisition manager, one with the hiring manager, and one with the manager I'd be working with if hired for the role. All of them went well, I thought. But then I didn't hear anything for two weeks. I followed up and the talent acquisition manager said they went with another candidate. The last person I spoke with said they were interested in me freelancing for the company, but that ultimately fell through, too.
