I applied online. The process took 2 days. I interviewed at Rev in May 2019
Interview
It was all online. You read their instructions, watched a video and then proceeded to do a test captioning assignment.
I had never done captioning before, but they didn't list this as an obstacle. Yet, even though I had no experience, they turned me down without giving specific reasons. "We are only able to approve freelancers who demonstrate the highest captioning standards." But I had never done it before!
In any case, I feel like I dodged a bullet, since most reviews here say the pay is awful. I was only looking for some extra income. The work is tedious, so if you don't get paid well, it doesn't really seem worth it. NEXT!

Question 1
Nothing. They asked nothing about my experience, who I am, etc.
I applied online. I interviewed at Rev in Sep 2018
Interview
Watch a video that details how to caption videos, then you caption one yourself. If you do a good job, you're moved on to the next round and asked to complete the captions for two different videos. You do have a deadline to complete these videos.
I emailed Rev four times about my Dash editor (the captioning software they use) not working for the final video and continued to receive an automated response from them. Thus, I was unable to complete my final video and be considered as a viable applicant.
Overall, I think I would've enjoyed doing this part-time. Unfortunate they can't get their tool working correctly; they're missing out on great talent.
I applied online. The process took 2 days. I interviewed at Rev (Lehigh Acres, FL) in Dec 2018
Interview
This is/was an independent contractor position. The selection process consisted of a short grammar and language test, plus captioning a 90 sec. video. They provided a style guide for convenience. The company's "Dash" software is integrated into web browsers. Once initial application is reveiewed, an invitation was sent to complete a second and third test video. Communication and review of application occurred quickly (4-6 hours). Jobs were sent to me soon after I passed the second test. The test was not tricky, but required adherence to their style guide, strong language and some technical skills (typing/media).
