I recently went through the interview process with Revolut, and unfortunately, it was a deeply disappointing experience.
Initially, they reached out to me on LinkedIn and scheduled a 30-minute screening call, which went smoothly. However, things took a turn during the Design Skills Interview a week later. The interviewer shared some concerning information, including the fact that every design decision needs approval from the CEO, and even the smallest pixel choice is investigated. Additionally, they emphasized the need for extreme patience and long hours, painting a picture of a demanding work environment that extends far beyond the typical 9-5.
After the interview, I was left with serious reservations about working for such a company. These reservations were further solidified when, just one day later, they rejected me, citing concerns about the focus of my case study, despite me being the lead UX designer on the project. The feedback provided was contradictory, with the interviewer mentioning that there was no need to follow a specific structure, yet criticizing me for not focusing enough on UI/Visual decisions.
Overall, this experience left me with the impression that micro-management is pervasive within Revolut, and the interview process accurately represent the true nature of the company culture. If you're willing to sacrifice your personal life for your job and endure excessive scrutiny and micromanagement, then perhaps Revolut is the right fit for you. However, for those seeking a healthier work-life balance and a supportive, collaborative environment, I would advise looking elsewhere.
