Title: Dehumanizing and Calculated Interview Process
I recently went through a 2.5-month interview process with Revolut for a Senior Product Designer position. With 8 years of experience in the SaaS and fintech space, I’ve participated in many hiring processes, but this was by far the most disheartening and unprofessional experience I’ve had.
The process consisted of over 10 interviews, including multiple presentations, a 2-day take-home task, and a live whiteboard session. Each stage was drawn out over weeks, leaving me in a constant state of stress and anxiety. The recruiter maintained an overly enthusiastic tone throughout, which now feels like it was only intended to keep me hooked and hopeful, rather than being genuine.
By the final stages, we were discussing salary, benefits, and promotions. I’d met with department heads and had been led to believe I was on the brink of receiving an offer. The recruiter even implied the contract would be sent over shortly. Naturally, I began to ease off from other job applications, confident that this opportunity was a done deal.
Then, at 3 PM on a Friday, I received a generic, machine-generated rejection email. The fact that this was sent on a Friday afternoon felt calculated—a way to avoid further engagement or conversation. It was as if Revolut wanted to ensure that I wouldn’t have the chance to ask questions or seek closure. It felt like I had been dating someone for 2.5 months straight, only to be ghosted with no explanation.
I responded to the email, politely requesting a call to discuss feedback in more detail. However, I never received a response. This complete lack of respect and empathy left me stunned. Revolut seemed to have no regard for the time and effort I had invested over the course of the process, or for the impact their decision would have on me as a human being.
I’ve never felt so blindsided in my professional career. The emotional and mental toll this process took on me was significant. Revolut’s treatment of candidates is not just disappointing, it’s dehumanizing. For a company that prides itself on being innovative, their approach to hiring is anything but. They should be setting a new standard for how to treat people, not reinforcing the worst aspects of corporate behavior.
Having read other negative reviews about Revolut’s work culture, I now see this as part of a broader pattern. I hope this review encourages them to reevaluate how they handle their candidate experience, because this kind of behavior is unacceptable.
