      Intern Interview

      Mar 31, 2016
      Anonymous employee
      Atlanta, GA
      Accepted offer
      Positive experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Rigor (Atlanta, GA)

      Interview

The interview process was simple and straightforward. I had an initial phone interview before they brought me in to interview in person. Had a few meetings with different people on the day of the in person interviews. Overall, a great group of people with a fun dynamic and culture.

      Application

I applied online. I interviewed at Rigor (Atlanta, GA) in Mar 2016

      Interview

Submitted an application online. Was contacted a month later to take a recorded interview online. About a month after that was invited to Atlanta for an interview. They cancelled that interview the day before. Luckily, I hadn't made plans for accommodation. Then, they reached out to me two weeks later to interview via Skype.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

Asked about my willingness to do dirty work. Did I feel that sort of work was beneath me.

Thank you for taking the time to post and share this feedback. We hate to hear that your experience was not the positive, respectful process we strive for. It falls far short of what we want for candidates and expect from ourselves. During the time of your interview (March 2016), we were testing out some new processes for recruiting. We learned important but hard lessons: - We had too many cooks in the kitchen which resulted in slow follow up and miscommunications. - The video recording stage, while efficient for us, felt impersonal to candidates. - “Dirty work” was not the right way to ask if someone will pitch in on important but time consuming or administrative tasks. Help wherever needed? Yes. “Dirty work”(...which could be interpreted as unethical)? Definitely not. One of our core values at Rigor is #OwnYourWork, which means we take responsibility for our personal wins and mistakes. In this instance, we completely dropped the ball and we sincerely apologize. I know this does not change your experience but we hope this provides a bit more clarity. Another core value is #ImproveEveryDay. We expect to make mistakes but want to understand and address them quickly. Feedback like yours helps us learn and iterate -- a key part of Rigor culture. We’re hopeful that we’ve made changes for a better candidate experience going forward but we’d love to continue to hear from candidates on what’s working and what’s not working. Reach out anytime to me, Sarah Affleck (sarah@rigor.com), or our COO, Kathryn O’Day (kathryn@rigor.com), to share. Thanks again for the honest insight.
