Beware of Misleading Recruiters One of RingCentral's recruiters led me to believe a position's salary was much greater on the very first phone conversation only to rescind that later on. I went through the entire interview process including 3 phone interviews, an onsite interview with 3 people, and a product demonstration. When I got a call about an offer I had asked for an extremely modest increase from the amount discussed on the first phone call. A month later after several follow up emails the recruiter told me to call him. Where he would then explain to me that the figure he gave me on the first call was greater than the positions max salary by $8,000. Which made my ask $11,000 greater than the max salary for the position. Instead of the $3,000 I thought I was increasing it by. So basically I was blatantly lied to and was shown no respect for my time after the fact as it took an entire month to get to this point. Job hunting is a taxing effort and this was a really disappointing blow. The position I was being considered for is a technical and functional position that deserves a higher salary for someone with experience. If you want top talent, you shouldn't be afraid to offer a reasonable salary.
