I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Rocket (Detroit, MI) in Feb 2012
Interview
Started with a phone interview which led to a credit check. After the credit check I was set up with a face to face interview with a recruiter the next day. During that first interview I was asked questions like what motivated me. They want to hear that money motivates you. They want to know that you have huge financial goals that you'd be willing to work 80 hour weeks to obtain. At the end of the interview I was told to call an extension and give a sales pitch of a fake NFL package. I did that, and basically they just want you to be persuasive and not take no for an answer. Give reasons why they should close today. Eventually you'll have to let them go, they'll say no.
After that I got lucky, most people said they had to wait a couple days, but the recruiter took me straight to a director. I sat in on a mortgage bankers calls for about 45 minutes and then he pulled me in a room to interview me. The recruiter was in there as well. He asked me very similar questions about what motivated me and what experiences I had in the past that lead me to believe I could handle a job with grueling hours that was sales based. They don't care if you were a janitor your whole life as long as you bust your ass and can persuade people.
The director seemed pretty biased, I think they're ready to give you the job once the recruiter approves you. However, my next stop was a 2nd director. He seemed to be playing the "bad cop." I'm not sure if that's a technique they use or if he was just in a bad mood, but it was a very odd interview. He basically said "well I'm sure you've had plenty of the interview process I'm not going to put those normal questions on you." Then he just started BSing with me telling me about trips they go on and things. He just had an odd attitude about him the whole time.
After that I left and waited for my offer. Later that night my recruiter called me and asked me how I liked the process and which director I liked more. I later found out that the director you chose is the director you end up with, in most cases. A few days after that I got a call with my verbal offer...don't get too excited after this, all taht means is you are now going to go through an EXTENSIVE background check.
Quicken is the only company to ever call all of my references, call and check on my previous employment (mind you, you need a FULL 10 year history with dates, so find that before you even bother applying). I got frequent calls daily asking questions about why I wasn't employed for a 2 month period, or why they couldn't get a hold of a previous employer etc. etc. It was extremely annoying and frustrating.
About a week later I finally got a call and confirmation of a written offer. This is where you know you're in. You'll go to a orientation day and the next day you basically jump right in. You'll get 2 tests of stuff most of you have never seen before right off the bat to make sure you're capable of learning. After that it's tests galore for the next 2-3 months.

Very fluent and smooth. Directions were very straightforward and to the point. Quick contact and very friendly. Kept you up to date with job status. Contacted you regardless of if you were receiving an offer for employment or not.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
What is a situation you found yourself in where you had to think independently.
3 rounds. First HR eventually a VP. All over the phone or video. Looking for outgoing sales people. They won’t say anything negative about the company. It seems very fake.

Question 1
Tell me about a time you convinced someone to do what they didn’t want to do?
Super easy! They will hire anyone with a pulse. You will talk to the recruiter first, and then a series of 2-3 more people. When I interviewed they didn’t even send me to the regional, they just hired me.
