I was called less than a week after applying and had a brief phone interview checking my work history. My answers didn't feel very important. After this, I was asked to fill out an extensive online application with work and wage history, education, references etc. Recruiter called the next day to set up an in-person interview
Arriving at the office, there were about 10 other people interviewing at the same time. Interview started with a simulated sales call to a current employee playing the part of the customer. You will be unable to persuade the customer to make the sale. I listened to three different actual sales calls. The recorded Quicken employees sound very pushy and try to make a hard sell. The recruiter went on to make a hard sale of his own, saying how the 40 hour work week is dead, and even inquiring about my other job prospects. He described the work week as 50 or more hours. He asked to give a situation where I overcame reservations to make a deal.
The office the interview was in was very bright, modern, colorful and seemed relaxed. They say that they don't check references or backgrounds until you proceed beyond the interview. I asked to see where the Mortgage Bankers work and I was shown the building out the window, as well as all the other real estate Quicken is buying, which is substantial. I was asked to call the recruiter and leave a voice-mail before the next day with three reasons I would be a good Banker if I wanted to continue the process. After reading reviews of this job on Glassdoor, especially the 1 star reviews - of which there are many, I decided to stop pursuing this job.
