I applied through a recruiter. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Rocket (Detroit, MI) in Sep 2013
Interview
I filled out a 2 minute questionnaire on LinkedIn and was called the next day by a recruiter. I was told about the long hours but this was followed by stating that the average mortgage banker makes 60k+ in their first year on the job with quicken. So, foolishly, I agreed to have a second call/phone interview. This time, I was somewhat grilled about being able to devote 12+ hours per day on a six day work week. This all sounds fine until you realize that QL doesn't pay time and a half for overtime. They pay "half-time" (yes, they've been sued for it but they beat the case). Outside of that, my recruiter used the word "persuade" AT LEAST 7 times when describing my day-to-day at the company. Essentially, you'll try to defend why QL charges a premium on services that are much less elsewhere (the tactics you use will be up to your discretion). I was then invited to come in for an interview. After a bit of small talk from the recruiter, we took the elevator up to the main work floor. When I strolled past the employees there I didn't see ONE smile. I didn't see anything other than stress and borderline depression in their eyes. We then began and the basic interview questions were asked. I was then asked if I had any questions for my interviewer. I know that QL was ranked No 1 in the nation as the best place to work, but that's for IT jobs (not mortgage banking). With this in the back of my head, I asked her about worker morale. She then began to regurgitate that "QL is No 1..." yada yada as though that article and ranking had anything to do with the position for which I was brought in to bid. At that point I mentally checked out of the interview because of her being incredulous with a simple question and basically answering it without answering. I didn't ask any other questions and was given a presentation for Quizzle to do a mock sale call. She said before the presentation was given that this would be what I'd be doing for 12+ hours per day. No matter how they try to dress it up, you'll be cold call selling for 70 hours every week with constant "coaching" (pressure by management). I did the phone call halfheartedly and wanted to wrap it up as quickly as possible. I was told that I'd be contacted in 48 hours but then said that this wasn't worth my quitting my current job for and thanked the recruiter for her time.

Question 1
What is a situation you found yourself in where you had to think independently.
3 rounds. First HR eventually a VP. All over the phone or video. Looking for outgoing sales people. They won’t say anything negative about the company. It seems very fake.

Question 1
Tell me about a time you convinced someone to do what they didn’t want to do?
Super easy! They will hire anyone with a pulse. You will talk to the recruiter first, and then a series of 2-3 more people. When I interviewed they didn’t even send me to the regional, they just hired me.
