Met with the hiring manager first which was okay. They mentioned it was a hybrid role which was not indicated on the job description. I was under the impression it was fully remote. After the hiring manager, I met with the chief people officer and it was the worst interview I’ve had in the longest. The person was stuck on the fact that I spent less than a year at 2 jobs and really emphasized them. It was extremely uncomfortable. Funny thing, both jobs were/are during COVID. Apologies if I don’t have a 20 year run at one of my jobs and that you did not recognize my overall experience and tenure at my other jobs. We live in a day and age where the average tenure is about 2 years. To make matters worse, I did my research on folks that have been hired in the HR Department and their tenure at previous positions were an average of 1yr and 2 months, so I’m a bit puzzled as to why this person targeted my tenure. In addition to emphasizing my tenure, they asked about my extreme likes and dislikes about the HR functions, again odd question. There was a question that they asked about my most proud accomplishment and they prefaced it by telling me they do not want to hear about relationship building etc. again odd. If I’m an HRBP, that is the first thing that would come to mind especially since getting the buy-in of the Business is hard enough. So when they rejected me, I was quite okay with that. The interview with the CPO definitely gave me insight to the culture of the company and that’s a no for me…thank you!
