The interview process at Rula was extremely lengthy and unclear. It included a recruiter screen, a hiring manager conversation, panel interviews with three stakeholders, a case study, a case study review with the hiring manager, and a final case study presentation.
For the case study, I was asked to analyze a large dataset and produce a detailed report—ultimately writing about 10 pages in a Google Doc. I spent around 20 hours on this, carefully incorporating all of the hiring manager’s feedback. However, after following their explicit coaching to keep my presentation high-level and check if interviewers wanted more detail, I was rejected for being too high-level. At the same time, I was also told I was too detailed yet too high-level, which felt completely contradictory.
The process felt misaligned, and the amount of work required—especially with conflicting guidance—was frustrating. If you’re considering interviewing here, be prepared for a significant time investment with unclear expectations.
Lastly, I was rejected via an email. At the very least, I felt the recruiter owed me a phone call after ~2 months of interviewing and the amount of work put into the process.
