      Lead Product Designer Interview

      Oct 1, 2025
      Anonymous employee
      Accepted offer
      Negative experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied online. I interviewed at Ryan in Sep 2025

      Interview

The interview process was one of the most unprofessional I’ve experienced. The recruiter shared very little information about the role or company, what to expect and even described one session as a “workshop Q&A,” which turned out to be a surprise live design exercise. That lack of transparency set the tone for the rest of the process. The first-round panel was poorly run. The lead interviewer seemed unprepared, unaware of basic details about my background, and at times was even snarky — asking questions like “What do we do?” instead of leading a thoughtful conversation. Rather than taking ownership, they handed the discussion off to a new hire who had only been at the company for two months. A third panelist was disengaged, repeatedly dropping in and out with her camera off. For a senior design role, I expected professionalism, organization, and respect for candidates’ time. Instead, the process felt disorganized, dismissive, and misleading. Based on my experience, I would not recommend pursuing opportunities here until the company significantly improves its recruiting and interview practices.
