Interview
Contacted by a recruiter and scheduled a phone call with the COO. Said all my experience is in outside sales but I was willing to take an inside sales position with the hopes to moving to an outside sales position if one came available. I was asked for an in person interview at their Corporate office in Kansas City, KS with the CEO, President and the COO. During the interview the questions were basic interview questions. Didn’t feel very welcomed by both the CEO and President. They acted like I was wasting their time with the interview that I was asked to drive from Tulsa to KC for. Never got an offer but I knew that after sitting down with the CEO and President for a few minutes. I wasn’t even offered reimbursement for gas or hotel the night before. I did think it was odd to have an interview for an inside sales position at the corporate office that’s out of state for the one I would be working in.

Question 1
With an Oustside Sales background, why would you want an Inside Sales position?
I applied through a recruiter. The process took 4 months. I interviewed at SPEC Building Materials (Kansas City, KS) in Feb 2026
Interview
The interview process was good. I met with Jody. The Vice President Of Operations. He said he was happy to talk to me and our conversation was good. I was recruited by a recruiter. They told me that Jody thought I was a great candidate and said that Jody thought I would be a great fit. However, after about 4 months. I still haven’t heard anything. I reached out multiple times to Jody with no answer. I even reached out to the recruiter. This was for an Inside Sales position in Kansas. They ghosted me. It’s not a great feeling. For a company that’s supposed to be family owned, I don’t think they think like a family. It seems like a very one sided endeavor where all they want are zombies salesman to make them money.
The interview process includes the first interview, then a questionnaire and assessments, second phone interview, and then the third would be in person. All of the guys I talked to were nice and super easy to talk to. Brook Benge is a standout guy.
