I applied through an employee referral. I interviewed at Salesforce (Bellevue, WA) in Apr 2017
Interview
I had two phone screen interviews followed by a day of onsite interviews. I found the interview process different than other companies, in a refreshing and good way. I've interviewed successfully at all the big tech companies in the area, and I found SF asked fewer brain teaser questions and more details about the skills / experiences / projects listed on my resume. For part of my onsite interview, I was asked to analyze a data set from the team and give a presentation on my results at the interview. The onsite also included a coding interview (great complex question of average-to-above-average difficulty), a probability/statistics interview, and two machine learning interviews (building classifiers and evaluating output) that I found complex and of comparable level to other tech companies.
Especially because of the data analysis and questions about my resume, I found it a better representation of assessing the skills I needed to succeed on the job, rather than the hazing process of memorized coding shortcuts that interviewing can become. The crew I interviewed with was enthusiastic, respectful, interactive and engaging. The team also took me out to a fun lunch, which said much more about their great team dynamics than any policy reiteration. Needless to say, I turned down multiple other big tech companies in the area and started with Salesforce as soon as I could.
